I AM NOT YOUI AM NOT KINGApr 14, 20201 min readUpdated: Oct 13, 2020Romans 12:15 - Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.An Open Letter to the Senior Class of 2020I can't imagine. I just can't. I am not you, so I really can't.I won't dare to describe your loss. Forgive me if I don't do this letter justice. I won't interfere with your voice. It exists for a reason.Your time looks different than mine. My high school and college experience Was precious to me. Being robbed, would be devastatingI am grateful for all the blessings I have hadI have that same desire for you.My heart is broken for you. I yearn to share your pain. To understand your loss.Even if I try, I would never be able to feel your bloodI have received losses, and bereaved of joyBut pain is not a distinct shape, it shouldn't beI will walk with you no matter your paceI will cry, weep, and share sorrows with youI will rejoice, laugh, and smile with you.I will listen, care, and love you.My only desire would be for others to do it, too.Ask instead of assume, listen instead of talkLearn who you are, serve you in the best way.Love you how you want to be lovedWhat can we say to you? What can we do to listen to you? What can we do to serve you? What can we do to love you?My sorrow is great for you and I am truly sorryI know we (every human) can come together Be strong, courageous, and walk alongside one anotherAnd tell this story to future generations and say, "We did it!"
